Ethos & Values Curriculum School History

The Curriculum

All pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 study History, Geography, Art, Drama and Music, and a second Modern Language. In Year 10 and 11 ths student chooses to continue some of these subjects to GCSE.

All pupils who will benefit will be entered for public examinations at the end of Year 11. Our public examination results are amongst the best in the country and better than the national average.

We believe in providing young people with a challenging and stimulating learning environment. The curriculum is planned and delivered with the aim of allowing all pupils the opportunity to achieve their very best. To enable the highest quality learning to take place, some subjects are grouped according to ability and some taught in mixed ability groups. This approach enables us to get the utmost from every pupil at Sir John Nelthorpe.

The school provides a wide-ranging and balanced curriculum for all pupils, meeting all National Curriculum requirements.
