Structures Workshop
We
had a visit from Professor Marsh and the "Neighbourhood Engineers" team
from Durham University. They ran a workshop with Class 3 on making roof
and bridge structures from paper tubes.
Prof.
Marsh helps make a roof structure
On the 15th of May a group of engineers from Durham university came
to our school to teach us how two make structures. There was a man who
was called professor marsh he helped us make our structures and was really
nice. There was four other men with professor marsh. We made house roof
structures and put weights on them to show how many killergrams they could
hold.We made triangles and fixed them together to make a pyramid. Then we
fixed all the piramids together to make a big piramid. The men took us outside
to make big poles to make into the tyne bridge it has to be as big as two
classrooms because it has to go into Durham Cathedral and it has to reach
from one pillow to the other. We made the big poles outside. There was a
man called Ian and a one called Ray, One called Brian, one called professer
Marsh I didn't know the other mans name.We only had five minutes play time
because we had to finish off our work because the men had to go.The men
helped us make the things and showed us how to fix our structures together.
