Hair Raising Demonstration
Ex-pupil Ashleigh Watson has been named  "Student of the Year" on her hairdressing course at New College in Durham. To celebrate her success she came into school for an afternoon to give a demonstration to pupils from years five and six. The girls had a great time experimenting with rollers and plaits and many of them left school with a whole new look.

Learning and Leading Launch

On the 10th of July children from our school and our Intersect partner schools (Bullion Lane Primary, Newker Junior and The Hermitage School) were invited to County Hall to demonstrate their I.C.T. skills to headteachers, governors, councillors, M.P.s and other guests as part of the launch of the Learning and Leading I.C.T. project in County Durham. We demonstrated the use of palm tops, digital photography and web surfing. There was also a live video conferencing link with children from Newker Junior School.

Korean VIPs Visit our School
On the 19th May our school played host to the Korean Education Minister (Hai Chan Lee) and other VIPs who were on a four day visit to Britain. The visitors had asked to see a rural school during their time in the country and Nettlesworth was chosen for this purpose. They were given a tour of the school and met with children and staff. This picture is taken from "The Journal" newspaper which covered the visit along with reporters from a number of other local papers.

The Easter Egg Competition

Every Easter the school holds a decorated egg competition. Each child brings in a hard, boiled egg  from home which they decorate in a style of their choice. There are first second and third prizes for each class and every child in the school wins an easter gift (all donated by  The School Community Group).

Here are this year's winners with their prizes.
