Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler was the leader who started the war. He was born in Austria in 1889. He became chancellor of the exchequer in 1933. He was the Leader of the Nazi movement group. Under his power the Nazis began to increase the size of their armed forces and to build new weapons of war. He was responsible for the invasion of Austria, Czechoslovakia and Poland. He also had millions of Jews executed .
He started the war because he wanted to rule the world. Adolf Hitler killed himself 9 days after the war on the 17th May 1945
 

Winston Churchill
Winston Churchill was born in Blenheim in Oxfordshire.
 He attended Harrow school but he was much happier at Sandhurst. In 1900 at the early age of 26 he was elected conservative member of parliament for Oldham in Lancashire. His greatest period and his greatest effort was still to come. In May 1940 the government of which Neville Chamberlain was prime minister fell. Churchill took power he ordered a full evacuation to the countryside. He was Prime minister from 1941 to 1945 and again from 1951 to 1955. Winston Churchill died in 1965. He was a very brave man and should be remembered because he  guided Britain through the war.
 

Neville Chamberlain
Prime Minister from 1937 to 1940. He was prime minister when war broke out and made the announcement on the radio.

Franklin Roosevelt
President of the United States 1933-45. He helped the allies by supplying war material before Pearl Harbour was bombed.
