The Secondment of Mainstream Multidisciplinary Teachers to Linskill Pupil Referal Unit

Objectives
To give teachers from mainstream school first hand experience of managing the most difficult pupils which they can use to good effect in their mainstream schools.
To improve the breadth of the curriculum and the quality of teaching and learning in PRUs.
To develop IT strategies to improve communication between partners, excite higher levels of motivation in learners, and deliver individualised learning programmes.
Secondment Programme.
Teachers from the primary or secondary sector seconded to the Linskill PRU for one week.
Preliminary meetings held between team leaders, headteacher of Linskill PRU and seconded teacher to discuss objectives and programme.
Priority given to Science, Technology and Mathematics subject to specific expertise.
Emphasis on use of modern technology for communication and to develop learning.
Weekly progamme to include
familiarisation with PRU philosophy and methodology
lesson observation and participation
audit of subject specific resources
production of subject specific resources
discussions on problem behaviour and behaviour management stategies
Dissemination of skills and information considered a vitally important outcome.
