Learning Support
At Northfleet School for Boys the needs of all pupils are identified and monitored. A network of in-class support, manned by teachers, classroom assistants and parents, assists pupils who have learning difficulties, and their progress is reviewed regularly at meetings of their subject and support teachers. These pupils may also be teamed with a member of staff who acts as their personal tutor for as long as the child needs this support. The needs of the gifted child are not overlooked either, and departments are organised to enable our most able pupils to meet their full potential in all subject areas.
The Reading Workshop is the Learning Support base room. It is open to all pupils at lunchtimes to develop their enjoyment of reading by browsing through a range of books, writing, listening to story tapes, playing word games, or using specially designed computer programmes.
