Technical Committee

This committee accepts total responsibility for the technology of the project and manages the acquisition and installation of all hardware, software and consultancy to implement the needs of the LEN project within time, cost and full functionality.

The Technical Committee has produced a Technical Specification to fully define the system being developed, showing hardware and software solutions chosen and performance criteria. Budget allocation have been given to each task module within the specification to meet the overall project constraints.

The committee has met monthly to ensure co-ordination and co-operation between all participating parties.

Curriculum Group

The curriculum group is responsible or ensuring that the project meets the needs of the schools, developing methodologies for its effective use, ensuring the acceptance and use of it within the schools and carrying out the initial user training, followed by a training programme for staff and students to be carried out within the schools. The curriculum group will be responsible for identifying the CDROM titles and any other material to be installed in the digital library.

A training and development plan has been published as soon as possible to cover the group’s activities, including planned training and development of methodologies for using the Letchworth Educational Network within schools. The plan will include a programme of activities and define expected costs, timescales and resource needs.

The curriculum group will be identifying early needs for access to equipment for training purposes before the cable network infrastructure is completed so that loan or rental of computers can be planned and budgeted for:

A team comprising of staff from within the schools has been established to carry out the task. The team members have been accepted by all schools for the delegated responsibility of working on their behalf.
