Teaching and Learning
KEY STAGE 3
Year 7:
In the Seventh Year, all pupils are taught in mixed ability groups. Their Form Tutor monitors the work of each individual in the Tutor Group and acts as a guide, friend, and mentor during this important year.
All boys in each Tutor Group go to specialist teachers in the following subjects:
Art, English, French, Geography, History, Information Technology, Mathematics, Music
Physical Education and Games, Religious Education, Science, Technology
Years 8 and 9:
Boys remain in the same Tutor Group from Years 7-11 and usually with the same Tutor. For teaching purposes, pupils are grouped in broad bands based on their academic ability.
All pupils continue with the same range of subjects which they began in the 7th Year, with the introduction of a second foreign language in year 8 for more able pupils.
The progress of boys is reviewed regularly, and they are moved between the bands if it is considered appropriate. The pupil and his parents are always consulted.
