When people hear about Framework for Intervention
for the first time they are often very interested in the the Behavioural
Environment Checklist and would like to see it all. This is not surprising. The
analysis of the areas of the school environment which can affect student
behaviour it contains reflects a great deal of research and testing, and has
stood the test of time.
We would like to share this knowledge through the
web. But, like many other tools used in good processes the checklist can be
mis-used - especially in this case as an inspection device. The Framework for
Intervention project rejects inspection as a basis for improving working
environments and believes, along with W. Edwards Deming, that inspection has no
part in developing total quality.
But we recognise that many will be tempted to use
the checklists in this way however much we state that by doing so they
undermine the source. John West-Burnham wrote "Any philosophy will be
compromised if not fully exposed." To avoid that, therefore, we offer a taste
of the checklist - but only reveal all the items within the context of full
introduction to what Framework is about - through the manuals and the
training.
And nobody who fully understands what Framework is
about would ever misuse the checklists......
That's why we are cautious. Please call us or
email if you want to use the full checklists. |
