The village of Pevensey Bay is about 3 km from the school. It stretches along the coast. In this picture North is at the top and you can see the road from the school coming down into the village, where it swings left (West) to Eastbourne.
You can see many straight drainage ditches, and the twisting remains of old ones. The dark lines stretching into the sea are wooden structures which stop the shingle (pebbles) being swept away by the current. Without a strong sea defences all these houses would be underwater. The defences are due to be rebuilt soon. The longest and thickest line is where the river drains through a pipeline which runs under the shingle bank.

You can see the sea from our house. In winter it is cold because the wind blows from the sea. Some days we go to the beach and there is a boat which nobody uses with holes in it so we have a lot of fun. There are lots of shops: 4 sweet shops, 1 bakery, 1 drinks, and 2 Chinese take-aways.
