Pevensey Castle has an important place in history from its Roman origins to its involvement in the Second World War. In 1066 William, Duke of Normandy, and his army landed in Pevensey, as the levels formed a shallow harbour. They then marched inland to meet the forces of king Harold at what is now called the town of Battle. Johnny H. |
