Here is a brief description of our school, written by some of the oldest children
The school, part of which is 150 years old, is
in a village near the sea a few miles
from the town of Eastbourne where about 100,000 people live. That
is where the
theatre, swimming pool, marina, cinemas, Pizza Hut and McDonalds
are. It is busy in
the summer when lots of people come on holiday.
Next to the school is a church built by William the Conqueror
after the Battle of Hastings.
Past the church is the castle, built by the
Romans 2000 years ago.
Some houses were built 400 years ago. There is a pond in the
centre of the village and a hall for meetings and play-group
(under 5s).
There are 11 classes and 330 children in the school. The youngest
are 4, the oldest are just 11.

Our old Victorian building was renovated in Autumn 1996. We took the opportunity to put in a stained glass window. It is about 1 metre tall. This was designed by Chloe in Year 3 (8 years old). It shows the school, church and castle, with a heron flying over the tree it used to nest in. (The grid lines were added by the stained glass artist). |

During a games lesson on a day we were visited by a French school photo taken June 96 looking North |

An old railway signal that stood just over the fence from us. When it was replaced the Railway apprentices restored it and presented it to the school. |
