Karl Stances

The stances as shown on the previous page are referred to either as the Thrall stances or the Training Stances. They are used as the training stances as they are quick to perform taking little more that 5 minutes for one set. The next set of stances are the Karl stances. These are performed in the same sequence as the other stances but with a chant to go along with each of the runes. This is similar to other sets of runes but the Karl chant is the name of the rune. The pronunciation of the rune chant is a single syllable pronunciation. This is not to difficult with runes like Fe or Ur but is a little more problematic with Kreft. The only other note on the pronunciation is that Thor is pronounced dor.

In addition to the change in the stances there is also a change in the breathing that goes along with the chant. The Thrall stances are performed by breathing in as you go in to the stance and out as you go out of the stance. The Karl stances are performed by breathing in deeply and then chanting the rune as you go in to the stance. The chant should end as you finish the movement. You then breath in deeply again and chant the rune as you come out of the stance. Again finishing the chant as the stance finishes.
