Parent Governors

The school is entitled to be represented by four parent governors who are each elected to serve a four year term of office. The next scheduled election is for two parent governors in September, 1998.

Parent governors are elected by parents of children at the school. The law defines a parent as "including a guardian and every person who has the actual custody of the child or young person" and for a parent to take part in an election s/he must have a child who is registered as a pupil of the school.

It should be noted that parent governors do not cease to hold office when their child stops attending the school. They are elected for a four year term.

At election times, candidates standing for election are permitted to post personal details on the school's three notice boards during the week before the election. However, this is not obligatory.

In consultation with the governors, the Headteacher of the school is responsible for the internal organisation, management and discipline of the school. The governors, who meet at least once a term, have a range of responsibilities for the school which include the oversight of the school's budget.

Clerk to the Governors

The Area Team Leader (Personnel) acts as clerk to the Governing Body.
