The Year One children made Robots to guard the classrooms. Their only instruction was that they had to be taller than Mr Chapman (1.90m / 6'3").

They made them from cardboard boxes, junk, CD's, bits of old computer, artstraws - in fact anything they could lay their hands on, and stuck together with tape and a hot glue gun.

They were made in sections, with groups making legs, arms, head and body. The robot was then fitted together to make the finished creature.

Unfortunately the first finished robot was so big that we couldn't get him out of the classroom. We therefore had to deconstruct him and build him again out in the library.

The robots were sprayed gold and silver and then placed in position outside the Year One classrooms.
