Woodland on Wheels and Fire Awareness

Angus from the Forestry Commision brought his wonderful 'Woodland on Wheels' wagon to the school.
All of the children were able to go out and hear about the trees and animals of the New Forest.
This sparked off lots of interesting follow up work in the classrooms.
Hampshire Fire Service visited the school in June to teach the children about fire safety. Each year group spent half a day with the fire fighters, learning about how they tackle emergencies and getting safety advice.
There was also a Fire Engine simulator, in which the children could drive the appliance to a fire. This, of course, was extremely popular.
The children were given very valuable advice in an exciting way. the fire service also left a box of materials and activities for further work in the classroom. We thank them very much for a splendid couple of days.
