TR  Cars
 Triumph began making cars in1923, although it had made motorcycles before then. In 1936 the company split its car and motorcycle operations, the car section went into recievership in 1939. In 1945 it came under the control of the Standard Car Company. The Standard Vanguard engine was used for the Triumph Roadsters and TR models. In 1961 Standard Triumph were taken over by Leyland, the Standard range was finished. The demise of the Triumph name came in 1984 when it was dropped by Austin Rover, as Leyland had become known.
