Job Title:                    Fundraising Manager

 

Location:                    Alton Castle, Staffordshire

 

Job Purpose:              To ensure the effective co-ordination of fundraising by developing and implementing a fundraising strategy suitable for Alton Castle.

 

Responsible to:          Director

 

Hours:                         37 hours a week (Full-Time)

 

Salary:                        £18,500

 

Contract:                    3 year option

 

 

Key Outputs

 

1.      Organise a fundraising committee meeting to determine a fundraising strategy.

 

2.      To work closely with the Director in developing budgets and income targets for the project, ensuring office management and administration is run efficiently and professionally.

 

3.      To ensure that current fundraising methods are effective, legitimate and worthwhile and to develop new fund-raising methods which can be accommodated within the resources of the department.

 

4.      Research and manage applications to relevant trusts or corporate sponsors.

 

5.      Planning and co-ordination of major fund-raising events alongside committee.

 

6.      Organise a major function to be used as an appeal launch

 

7.      To implement a management system for a fundraising database.

 

8.      To ensure that appropriate public relations are developed through various media, and production of fund-raising material in keeping with the fundraising strategy.

 

9.      To organise and manage a team of volunteers to assist with fundraising.

 

10.  To maximise fundraising potential of the castle’s existing network of organisations and individuals.

 


Details

 

a)      To establish the strategy for the fundraising as based upon and around the overall objectives and strategy for Alton Castle as a whole.

 

b)      To undertake planning and research, in order to set the budgets and targets to achieve a), keeping a record of donations and supporting the charity’s accountant.

 

c)      To work with the director and executive committee to achieve the fundraising objectives and targets and to ensure sufficient support and training is given to other members of staff.

 

d)      To monitor all on-going fundraising methods and oversee their procedures and operation to ensure that they are effective, legitimate and worthwhile.

 

e)      To ensure that promotional work and production of materials are undertaken as needed and to ensure that all existing and new fundraising methods are effective, legitimate and worthwhile.

 

f)        To be open to and investigate as many new areas of fundraising as possible with a view to establishing them as effective, legitimate and worthwhile, and to investigate and research possible grant givers, within the voluntary sector.

 

g)      To liaise with service providers and service developers, and those in management of these, in order to gain sufficient knowledge of the Alton Castle services. Where appropriate to raise specific funds for these projects.

 

h)      To be aware of any changes in law or tax relating to charity fundraising and to be responsible for following or exploiting these avenues as appropriate.

 

i)        To prepare, implement and monitor with the approval of the director, policies for fundraising and public relations of Alton Castle.

 

j)        To ensure that a consistent and persistent message and image for Alton Castle, and a flow of information is maintained following the policies of Alton Castle.

 

k)      To plan and organise major fund-raising functions with the help of the executive committee, the first to be used as an appeal launch.

 

l)        To undertake all other tasks in keeping with the post in order to achieve the fundraising strategy.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Personal Qualities

·        Has marketing experience

 

·        Relates well to others and builds relationships

 

·        Is a good communicator both verbally and in writing

 

·        Has good persuasive skills

 

·        Has some experience of bookkeeping

 

·        Is genuinely computer literate

 

·        Has experience of working in a voluntary or charitable organisation preferably with young people.
