Analysis: Temperature variations - Zimbabwe and Cyprus
From this graph I can deduce that Peterhouse in Zimbabwe (18°S) normally
has a slightly higher temperature than Dhekelia in Cyprus (35°N). Although
it is nearer the equator, it is at a much higher altitude (1600m) compared
to Dhekelia (150m). This compensates for it being nearer the equator because
every 100 metres increase in altitude it is 1 degree colder. Towards the
end of the period the temperature fell at Peterhouse possibly due to convectional
rainfall whcih therefore cooled the land or led to cloudier conditions.
