Here is what the Pinewood students wrote about their visit to the Geography Department at Radley College on 6 Feb, 2001
Today we are at Radley doing the Melink International weather project. When we arrived Mr Harris welcomed us along with Chris Lewis and Tom Mayes, some old pupils from Pinewood. At this point it was nice and sunny.
We had a tour of part of the school we saw the Art, Geography, English, Music & Maths blocks, which was very interesting.
We then went to the geography block, and Mr Harris talked to us about Metlink on the internet. While he was talking there was a brief hail storm. We could hear it very clearly as there is a metal roof.
We were then shown to some computers and we had a little explore on the internet, which was interesting . Below is a picture of what London looks like at the moment.
It looks very wet and dull, not a very nice day at all . This picture shows the Thames river in the centre of London .

We made this graph to show the top five hottest MetLink schools that are taking part in the project. We searched the internet and found lots of different weather in many different countries. We found how much cloud cover there was in various places including Japan and Australia. We have looked at the weather on RADAR which showed all different kinds of weather.
The weather is changing every minute. When we arrived it was nice and sunny then we had a quick hail storm and now its looking grey and gloomy and it has just started raining this very second. All in all the weather has been extremely varied.
The web page is great and it shows so many details of the weather all over the world.
At this moment we are at Radley. We have had a short tour of the schoool by old Pinewoodians. Here is a picture of Glasgow, it looks pretty dull and wet.

Here at Radley College it is a bit dull but we have just had a hail storm.
At the moment the hail storm has finished . We are in the Geography I.T room and on the Met link home page.
We would prefer to be at Radley than at Glasgow, the weather here is much better than in Glasgow. Mr. Harris gave us an amazing lecture about the MetLink International project
We searched the MetLink Website and took down some data from four different schools, one from Hawaii, one from Finland one from UK and another from Australia. We copied the max, min and the average temperature from the four schools. Then we turned it into a graph as you can see below

On Pinewood's visit to Radley we had a tour of the school. When we got back I side it started to hail. The first part of the day had been bright and sunny but then it became dull and over cast in the afternoon.
Here is a satellite picture of Europe today.

Today we visited Radley College. First we got a guided tour from Robert Cohen who is in his last year. We then got a chat from Mr Harris about Metlink and about the website. We have been looking around the web page.
The roof of the geography room is made of metal so when it started hailing not very long ago it was very loud.
Everybody is on the computers drawing graphs and maps. Here we have pulled up a live picture of Toronto the weather is very horrible at the moment.

We looked up some websites on lighting and tornados.

Lightning strikes in San Angelo. A tornado forming near Miami
These are 2 pictures of Malta. We wanted to see how often the weathercam pictures changed.

Today we visited Radley. After a brief talk with the Head of Geography, Mr Harris, we had a tour of the school with a Radleian, Chris Lewis.
When we arrived back at the Geography Department we had a chat about the MetLink weather project. Then it started to hail. The roof is made of stainless steel so Mr Harris had to stop talking.
This is a picture that Mr Harris kindly put on the internet of us. In the photo we are standing in our Geography room at Pinewood

This is a picture Mr Harris put on the internet. This is my year group at Pinewood school. On February 6 2001 the year seven of Pinewood visited Radley College. First we got showed round Radley and then we worked on the computers going on Metlink and looking at photos .

When Mr Harris was speaking to us we could hear the hailstones on the roof at about half past two, because the roof is metal!
During our visit to Radley college we were experiencing several different types of weather. When we first got there it was sunny and there wasn't much cloud cover.
We had a quick tour of Radley during which the weather didn't change much.
The first time the weather changed radically was when we entered the Geography computer room. The roof of the building was a pointer to the weather changing because when it started hailing there was a loud crumbling noise. Soon afterwards the hail turned to rain.
Below : a very recent satellite picture of rainfall over the world

Today we went to Radley College for a geography trip. When we got to the school we went on a tour. We saw the Art block, the Chapel, and all round the Queen's Court.
After the tour we went to the Geography Computer room and Mr Harris gave us a lecture. It was very interesting. Then we went all round the internet and did a project. It was a very interesting day.
Today has also been a very good day for weather. There has been rain, hail, sleet and snow.
This is a photo of Spain. At the moment the temperature is 8 degC. Over the last 24 hours the max temperature has been 13 degC and the minimum temperature has been 3.5 degC.
