The data will be supplied and used by Year 8 (age 13+) who spend
the term studying the local weather. This includes keeping a record
of one week's weather,acessing all data etc and producing a report
using Information and Communications Technology.
Lat 51.53N Long 2.07W. Height 70m above sea level.
The school is located in parkland close to the centre of the town.
Observations to be made at 12.00 GMT each day.
The measurements are made from the geography room on a "Davis
weathermonitor11". Rain gauge, anemometer, humidity are
sensed on the roof about 5m above ground-level. We have a
stevenson's screen but will use weather data logger for
convenience.( We have had a Y2K problem with the software which
links with computer but I am expecting a more compliant version to
arrive any day). This should not affect data collection.
I expect the collection period to be cool (not really cold), dry as
Cheltenham seems to be exceptionally dry, fairly calm as the town
is sheltered by hills.
