The school's latitude and longitude:
52.55N, 0.39W and the school is approximately 64.7m above sea level.
 
The school is located in the small town of Grantham in the county of
Lincolnshire. We live just to the west of the Fens. Grantham is a small
market town. The nearest big towns are Nottingham, Peterborough and Lincoln.
Grantham is surrounded on all sides by hills; it is in a basin.
 
We hope to make our observations at 1:45pm (1345Hrs) GMT.
 
We are going to carry out our observations on the school playing field.
 
The instruments that we are using to record temperatures are a
maximum/minimum thermometer, a rain gauge, the weather vane and internet
sites for the air pressure.
 
We normally expect low temperatures, e.g. -2 to +5 degrees centigrade,
occasionally we might expect snow and frost, rain and sleet. We expect the
weather to be changeable.
