Latitude 18 15S, Longitude 31 35E.

We are 1640m above sea level

The School is 8km SE of Marondera, a town of some 30,000 population in
the province of Mashonaland East. It has some light industry, but perhaps
it is more important as an agricultural settlement, with a large number of
commercial farms in the area, growing mainly tobacco and maize.

Local time for observations will be 0800

Observations will be made in the Geography department, which is on the
eastern side of the built up part of the school.

Instruments used include Six's thermometer, wet/dry bulb hygrometer,
anaeroid barometer all of which will be in the Stephenson screen, a remote
pressure operated wind speed indicator on the roof of the department, and a
rain gauge.

We are at a warm wet stage of the year, although the reliability of the
rainfall is not good. We can expect temperatures in the mid 20 celsius
range, and fairly cloudy days with frequent showers.

Looking forward to taking part,

Yours sincerely,
