Ironworks

William Exell, who had helped George Palmer with his experiments into mechanical making of biscuits, was a member of the iron founding company Barrett, Exall and Andrews. The works were in Katesgrove on both sides of the River Kennet. They were well known for making all kinds of machinery to help farmers, such as ploughs, steam engines and mowing machines.
