On March 27th 2002 we celebrated gaining permanent Eco status. The day began early for some, as Eco Reps
arrived at 7.30 am to meet  Julie from Radio WM who interviewed pupils live on air.

The pupils were all eager to share their thoughts on what
being an Eco School meant to them explained their
achievement to the listeners.

During the afternoon the whole school including pupils, teachers, representatives from parents, governors, the Friends
Association, dinner supervisors and care taking staff joined with invited guests to celebrate. Groups of children from throughout the school demonstrated the Eco ethos of the school in dance, poetry and song. The final song "We are the children of Ridgeway School" sung by all the children and led by cheerleaders from Year 5 made an exciting finale to a successful day.

Our work as an Eco School will continue as will our work in
promoting sustainable development. One of the children summed up what being an Eco school meant when he explained to Julie on Radio WM, " We care about each other, our
environment and the future and we are all really proud of our school."
