The Eco-Schools scheme is now well established in Staffordshire with many schools taking part. It is less well known that Ridgeway Primary was one of the first group in the country to receive an 'Eco' flag.
A very important part of becoming an Eco-School is the setting up of an Eco-Committee that will decide how the school will develop its environmental work. Our Committee includes Pupils Teachers Classroom assistants Clerical staff Caretaking staff Lunch-time supervisors Friends Association members Parents Governors
Pupils discuss their ideas in small groups with the adults and then share the issues with the larger group. Minutes are taken of the discussions and later shared in classes and with the school community. After consultation these ideas are put into practice.
