INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
The school has a network of multimedia PCs linked via an ISDN line to the Internet and with a workstation in each classroom. There are also BBC and Acorn computers available in each classroom giving all classrooms two or three computers. Information technology is regarded as an essential tool for communicating, handling and presenting data, controlling devices, monitoring the world around us and simulating the real world. A wide range of programmes is used in order to integrate these studies into the school curriculum. Also information technology, in particular computer, skills are taught in our curriculum.

Types of programmes that are used are:-
1. Word processing and desktop publishing.
2. Multimedia and web page authoring software.
3. Graphics software.
4. Communications software for use on the Internet.
5. Reinforcement programs - e.g. consolidation of tables work, simple arithmetic, English grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.
6. Information retrieval and data processing software including databases, spreadsheets and CD ROM programs such as Information Finder, Encarta, Musical Instruments and Dangerous Creatures.
7. Simulation (modelling) programmes and talking book CD ROMs.
8. Explorations - e.g. exploring ideas, shape, symmetry.
Other equipment such as tape recorders, cameras (film and digital) and a scanner are available for enhancing the childrens collection and presentation of information.
