SCIENCE
Science is taught at all ages throughout the school and follows the prescribed syllabus of the National Curriculum.
Science in the Primary School has traditionally been associated with nature study or environmental studies. Its modern interpretation embraces every aspect of science, including design and technology. Having said this, the biological sciences will also play an important part in the curriculum and the most important resource that we have at Woodside is:

The Wildlife Area
We are justifiably proud of our wildlife area that was created a few years ago by the joint efforts of the PTA, the school staff, the children and the governing body. We also enlisted the help of a number of outside bodies who were instrumental in providing funds or helping with the general hard work of establishing the wildlife area.
Two study tables were made by the Countryside Management Services and we have a bird hide which is used extensively for bird-watching at the edge of the pond. The area is well managed by a group of willing parents and is constantly being modified and improved. A recent addition is a landing stage that is used by the children to facilitate their pond-dipping activities.
