CLUBS
Clubs take place at lunch times, after school and on Saturday mornings and are organised by staff and parents. There are a variety of clubs to choose from such as netball, football, badminton, nature, design and technology, sewing, rounders, choir and art. After school clubs start at 3.15 pm and end between 4.15 pm and 4.30 pm. Children may attend these clubs free of charge.
There are also some clubs which are run in the school by external bodies. SportSchool run football coaching after school and Arsenal Football Club run holiday football training sessions. Short Tennis is run by Whiz Kids and French Club by Club Français. A charge is made for these clubs. The school is also used as a site for a summer holidays playscheme that is organised by Broxbourne Borough Council.
SCHOOL LIBRARY
We have a large number of books that are supplied by the school library service and these are changed periodically. In addition to this we have many other books which have been bought by the school or donated by parents.
At school children are encouraged to use the library properly and as often as possible. Library skills are also taught as part of our normal curriculum work. Occasionally visits are made to the local library and the library staff talk about their work and the benefits to the children of becoming members of the library. At school we encourage the children to become members of the local library as soon as possible as this will become a valuable resource to them throughout their school life.
Mrs Crispin looks after the library and is the teacher responsible for literacy development throughout the school.
