K'Nex Junior Engineers for Britain

This year's competitions was organised by Young Engineers and sponsored by K'Nex. The challenge provides primary school children with an introduction to the exciting world of engineering.

Many schools throughout the country were supplied with a free K'Nex kit (some for the fourth year running) and, with the help of a Neighbourhood Engineer, ran challenges in their schools. Fourteen schools submitted entries in time for an afternoon event at the Regional Technology Centre, Spencer Centre. Pairs from these schools produced fairground models from the K'Nex kit provided.

The competition was judged by three of our Neighbourhood Engineers and children from Grange Community Primary in Kettering and Falconers Hill Junior School in Daventry were selected to go forward to the regional heat. Unfortuntely they were pipped at the post there but a good day was had by all at an event hosted by Boots in Nottingham and organised by the Nottingham SETPOINT.

Below are pictures of all the models produced at the Regional Technology Centre event.
