Task: setting the scene for the play of 'Robinson Crusoe'
Scene:The sky blue sea looked rough and choppy. The golden hot sandy beach , appeared desolate . The large coconut trees were rustling softly in the gently breezy calm wind , it was crowded by tropical plantacion and look like paradise . There was a deathly silence apart from the distant echoing noises of huge animals far away .
As Robinson crusoe floated peacfully on the deep blue sea , he slowly began to open his sleepy heavy eyes and saw the distant island on the horizon . He nervously panicked and began to swim rapidly over the rough waves towards the island. When he gladly arrived there he spied a man up a tall tree drinking coconut milk. The stranger jumped down and they closely studied each other.
Science lesson (revision of body systems, the heart and life cycles)
We have many body systems.Such examples are the circulatory, digestive, excretory, nervous and skeletal systems. They have many jobs including breaking down food, pumping blood or getting rid of harmful waste materials. Our heart is part of the circulatory system and pumps blood around the body.It has four chambers,a left and right ventricle and a left and right artium. Our heart beats about 70 times a minute on average and it takes about 6 seconds for blood to travel around our bodies.Blood leaves the heart in arteries and returns to the heart in veins.A human heart is about the size of a clenched fist.
Life cycles differ in animals.A Galapagos tortoise can live for up to 100 years old whilst a common house mouse will only live for up to 3 years.A human's life cycle can go up to 120 years,a record which was made by Madame Jeanne Calment in France in 1997.We start life as a baby then we become a toddler and so on till we die. Most people today can be expected to live into their 80's or 90's.However around 100 years ago people were only expected to live into their 40's.This was because many modern medicines we use today were not invented in those times.
