Professional Duties

The professional duties of the school teacher are those set out in the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document 1992, together with the additional duties set out below.

 

Specific Responsibilities

Responsibility for throughout the school

To formulate policy statements and written guidelines consistent with the requirements of National Curriculum, the governors and the LEA.

To monitor and evaluate these policies, in consultation with the headteacher, and update as required.

To monitor, on a regular basis, the implementation of these policies throughout the school.

To provide the governors with reports on the teaching of Science and Technology in the school.

To have an overview of record keeping for Science and Technology and to develop such records as necessary.

To offer support and guidance to staff, including arranging and contributing to school-based INSET.

To liaise with other coordinators, attend appropriate courses and report back to colleagues.

To ensure that this area of the curriculum is adequately resourced and to refer any deficiency in resources to the headteacher.

To place orders for relevant equipment/resources.

To promote parental interest in this area of the curriculum.

 

General Duties

To be responsible for Junior assemblies and class assemblies as required.

The headteacher, deputy headteacher and the head of the Junior Department.
