The Ghost in Aisle Three

Me and my friend, Sam, were in my bedroom writing a poem for our English homework.

"Fiona, we've run out of bread. Will you and Sam go to Safeway for a loaf?" yelled my mum.

"Okay," I replied unenthusiastically. We dawdled and chatted our way to Safeway.

They quickly ran into Safeway and it was quiet, dark and deserted. As they walked into Aisle three, where the bread was, they heard howling, wailing and scratching and suddenly they stopped. They opened the creeky freezer door and "BEWARE" was written in the frost. Sam laughed to Fiona,

"Someone is trying to scare us!"

Sam and Fiona stared at the writing and new words started appearing,

"BEWARE YOU ARE IN FOR A SCARE!"

They were glued to the ground like concrete statues. The tiled floor started to rumble and vibrate. Sam and Fiona turned pale. The ghost floated up from the freezer. It was half human, half beast and it had teeth like sabres and eyes like fire.

It let out a menacing roar as they staggered backward towards the end of the aisle. Many zombies started rising from the broken tiles, while the ghost circled around Fiona and Sam. The ghost chanted fiercely:

"Now that I'm set free

you MUST forever obey me

unless something you can see...

that's been lost in aisle three."

"I wonder what the ghost has lost?" inquired Fiona. The ghost gave them a clue,

"Go to the 24th tile,

Of the number 3 aisle,

There you shall find,

A bottle of potion behind..."

The lights flickered, the entrance doors slammed and the alarms rang.Slowly and carefully the children counted their way to the 24th tile. The children counted,

".....20, 21, 22, 23......AHHHHHH!"

The children screamed loudly as they fell through a giant hole where the 24th tile should have been. They landed on what seemed to be a very tough spider web which broke their fall. Sam and Fiona spotted the potion...But coming towards them was a ferocious looking trap door spider. They immediately tried to run away but found that they were glued to the sticky web. Fiona tripped, and her face became stuck to the web. As she stared down into the darkness she could just make out skeletons lying below.

Fiona grabbed a pen-knife from her pocket and frantically slashed the web. She managed to free herself leaving Sam to face the spider. She threw him the pen-knife and with a very accurate aim, he defeated the spider. They quickly grabbed the potion and raced to the ghostly freezer. They threw the secret potion into the deep dark freezer and ran.

Sam and Fiona dashed home and faced Fiona's mum:

"You have been ages, where is the bread?"

"You would never believe us if we told you'" sighed Fiona.

Sam suddenly saw a baby spider quickly scurry across the carpet:

"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!"
