Much to celebrate at Shaw House
THE PAST and the future were celebrated at Shaw House School's open evening
(pictured above) for prospective parents recently.
The school recognised the achievements of former pupils with a prize giving
ceremony. Newbury's MP Mr David Rendel congratulated Courtney Lane for gaining
one of the best GCSE results in the country, nine A* grades, two A grades,
a B in A/AS Maths and the Diploma of Vocational Education.
Leader of Berkshire County Council and the school's new chairman of governors,
Mr Bob Mowatt, then promised to march the school into the new millennium
in a progressive and positive manner.
Plans for the school's future, including a bid for technology status, the
modernisation of the science laboratories and a move towards a sixth form,
were unveiled by headmaster Mr Mike Macleod.
