Mars is a big, red and rocky planet. It has some very big rocks as you can see. The Mars Pathfinder (a Mars explorer) landed on Mars on 4th July 1997.

You can see a picture of Pathfinder near a big rock
It sent back pictures and writing. People send robots up to Mars, because they can’t send space rockets. It would take too long. The pictures were taken by acameras on the Pathfinder landing. Mars Pathfinder found semi-circle rocks. The Mars Pathfinder (as you can see) has got 6 wheels on either side, a big square box, a flat piece of metal and an aerial.
