Medicine

The art of medicine took a magical and religious sense, for many people prayed for health and cures to their ailments. The true profit in medicine was to sell items that the praying people would sacrifice or offer to the gods, and many little shops were nestled at the entrance to the sanctuaries.

There were actual professional doctors that seemed to look at medicine as a science, but they still had to rely on crude instruments, such as bone scalpels. Actual medicine was derived from herbs and plants found on outlying areas of Athens.
