Plato was born in 428 B.C. He probably had the most influence on the math world in his time. All important work of the fourth century B.C. was done by the friends and pupils of Plato. He did not make many discoveries on an individual level but his school made many. Plato firmly believed that mathematics provided the finest training for the mind. Over the door of Plato's academy was written: "Let no one unversed in geometry enter here." His academy flourished after his death in 347 B.C. for another 900 years.
