What does A.D. mean anyhow?


It means the number of years after the birth of Christ.

Jesus Christ was born around the year 0, and dates after that are
called A.D. (Anno Domini, which is Latin for the Year of our Lord).

So this is 1996 A.D., and Classical Greece was around 450 B.C.,
or about 1996 + 450 = how many years ago?
