Music Theory

Welcome to the Music from Ancient Greece

First things first. If you're reading this and think you're gonna' find out howto make music from the grease off the frying pan you used last night to do burgers-you're a very confused individual. However, if you're reading this and you're looking for the inside scoop on what music was like in Ancient Greece-the country--read on fellow scholar!!

The music of Ancient Greece was very very simple. The was no harmony. Everything was played and sung together in unison (possibly in separate octaves). The sound of the music would make most people today think it was from the Orient. Just go find a piano and play all of the black keys for a while, and you'll know what I mean. The people of Ancient Greece used things like wood, turtle shells, and animal intestines to make instruments.
