The wire would be moved around to cut the brain into pieces. Next, the brain would be scooped out with a different piece of wire, which had a cup-shaped end. They then threw the brain away and fed it to a cat, because they didn't think the brain was very important in the afterlife. Then they would fill the skull with packing of natron and plaster which was a solid material.

They cut open the chest and removed the whole contents which they cleaned with palm wine. After that they filled the hole with myrrh and other spices. They sewed it up and wrapped the body round from head to foot in bandages of fine linen smeared with gum. They replaced the eyes with stones.
