A rich woman would wear a sari made of silk.
She would wear a small top to cover her shoulders. The sari would be
tucked into an underskirt, tied tightly around the waist, as can be seen
here. A sari is 6 metres long.
|
| The decorative end of the sari is put on last
and draped across one shoulder. The sari has extra fabric along part of
the bottom to make it heavier and hold it down. Ladies are expected to
cover their ankles.
Women often wear lots of jewellery, such as bangles and necklaces.
