A Gastropod may have a single coiled shell that is rounded, flattened, or highly spiraled. Snails have a distinct head with a pair of tentacles that can go in and out of its body. An eye is located at the base of each tentacle. Under the tentacles is the mouth. |

An eye is located at the base of each tentacle. Under the tentacles is the mouth. Inside the mouth there is a tongue that acts like a saw. It shreds the snails' food. Snails eat mostly plants. Sometimes they eat dead animals. Fish and some birds eat snails. |
