Ant

INSECT (family Formicidae) belonging to the same order as the BEE and WASP. Ants have a narrow stalk joining the abdomen and thorax, and biting mouthparts (sometimes used for defense). Some ants have stings, and some can spray poison from the end of the abdomen. All ants show some degree of social organization; many nest in a system of tunnels in the soil, in constructed mounds, or in wood. Ant colonies usually include three castes: winged, fertile females; wingless, infertile females, or workers; and winged males. In some species workers may become soldiers or other specialized types. Army ants travel in columns, overrunning and devouring any animals in their path; fire ants are stinging ants that are serious pests in parts of the world.

Formica polyctena

Myrmica rubra

This is a flying ant .

These ants are taking the eggs into the nest. When the baby ants are born they help the older ants to serve the queen ant. They have to collect food and build tunnels so if bigger bugs come they can get out easier, quicker and safer.
