Aim:

To enable Learning Support Assistants to be effective in the use of I.C.T. in the classroom

Course Duration:

half day

Method:

There will be a choice of two separate half-day training sessions for KS1 LSAs, and two separate half- day training sessions for KS2 LSAs. Places are limited to two LSAs from each school, one for each KS1and KS2 course. The programme is negotiable, so that it may be possible to add training in particular software if many people require it.

Programme - negotiable:

KS1

1.00 – 1.15 Welcome and coffee/tea

1.15 – 1.30 Introduction to the Beacon project and aims and objectives for the afternoon

1.30 – 2.00 Using CDROMs to support learning

2.00 – 2.30 Using Clicker 4, and creating new grids for use in class

2.30 – 3.15 Using Microsoft Publisher to create simple worksheets, displays and labels

KS2

1.00 – 1.15 Welcome and coffee/tea

1.15 – 1.30 Introduction to the Beacon and aims and objectives for the afternoon

1.30 – 2.00 Using Clicker 4 to help children with special educational needs

2.00 – 2.45 Using Microsoft Publisher to create simple worksheets, displays and labels

2.45 – 3.15 Using the Internet, searching and copying information

The course will be lead by Andrew Trythall, who is ICT subject leader at Beacon School co-ordinator at Sir Robert Hitcham’s Primary School. Course notes will be provided, which will also be available through the Sir Robert Hitcham Web Site.
