chipati.jpg (15953 bytes) This pan, called a tava, is used for cooking chapattis which are often eaten with curry. Chapattis are an Indian bread made with wheat flour and kneeded into a dough called atta. Many people use the chapatti rather than a knife and fork to pick up the curry and eat it.

The chapatti is flat and thin like a pancake and is cooked in this pan without oil on a cooker or fire.
