The elephant has been a very important animal in Indian history. The elephant has been the animal for rulers as well as an animal for hard work such as carrying trunks of wood from the forest. The elephant has also been used in wars, and is still used in processions.

These bright coloured materials on the elephant are popular in Gujarat. The mirrors are embroidered into the elephant.
