Spring Term 2000 Overview Since starting the Community I.C.T. project at the end of last term, a programme of work has been created to keep me busy up to the end of this academic year. A pattern has emerged of combining school visits, working with pupils and staff, and exploring new avenues for creating Internet based educational resources. Once again, please contact me with thoughts, ideas or comments about the development of this project.New Resources In order to increase the range of KS1 material on the Internet, a web site on Forces in Toys has been created. It was an interesting experiment in putting video footage on the Internet. I hope you find it helpful in support of your science work in class. It would be useful to hear comments about using the web site in class, particularly your thoughts about the video footage.
Internet Audit Results of the Internet audit taken last term can be found on the PINTs web site. Sir Robert Hitcham Year 5 & 6 had a trip to use the computer suite at the high school in order to create Web Pages about their topic on Ancient Egypt. Pictures they had drawn were scanned in and used to illustrate their writing. Next Term - Summer Term 2000Next term I will be working at Dennington and Wickham Market. Dennington have an exciting history project to go on the Internet about their school centenary. They will be also creating their own school web site. In Wickham Market, I will be developing web pages with the KS1 I.C.T. subject leader, working with a reception class. I am currently developing three educational resource web sites. Working with the UEA Sainsbury Centre, there will be a site about art from India, which should be ready in June. I am also working on two web site with Helen Thacker: Churches in India and Educhurch. The former allows you to compare the Christian faith in England with one in a contrasting locality, the latter is a year long project comparing faiths of different denominations. Both will be part of the new RE schemes of work. |
