Ca. is short for the word circa. It means that an event happened around a certain time, we're not sure exactly when. ( For example: ca. 900 BC means around 900 BC)
Years written with a slash (like
594/3) shows that the Athenian year began at a different time than ours and
we need to name it differently. Kind of like how the Chinese New
Year is different from ours. It doesn't mean that we're not sure
what year it was.
