A habitat is an animal or plant's home, e.g. A rabbit lives in a burrow. A badger lives in a hole in a hill. Some birds live in a crack in houses. A beaver lives in a dam which is made out of sticks and lumps of wood and mud which is beneath the water. Plants and animals are designed to make their own habitat. e.g. dogs can't live in a hole high up in a house. A bird can't dig holes in the ground.
When we went to take a picture we saw buttercups, long grass, nettles, some goose grass and wasps. The grass was about 1 metre long. The plants that were in the shade grew high because they needed to get to the light.
The ones in the sun don't grow high because they have the sun. Instead they concentrate on growing their leaves. Also their stems are green because they have light and don't have to grow so high.
