The Potting Shed

The potting shed, as you have probably guessed, is where the plants are potted. There is a big machine and someone puts in pots in the top of it, then the pots go down onto a revolving disc where a drill drills a hole in the compost that was put in at the start of the journey.  A lady puts a plant in the hole the drill has made and last but not least it is pushed onto a conveyor-belt. On the sides of the conveyor-belt are sticks with weak springs on them so when the stick goes back it counts the pot. When 6 pots have gone past the sticks, the convaer- belt stops, and an arm comes to pick them up. The arm puts them back on a trailer  which is collected by a tractor when it is full. The plants are then taken by lorry to garden centres all over the country.
